China’s Electric Car Exports Surge to Record on European Demand

Car manufacturing companies in China exported US$3.2 billion worth of electric cars in November, up 165% from a year ago to reach the maximum monthly total, the nation's custom authority shows data. The highest importers of European countries in the list are England and Belgium, they take nearly 70% of the exports.

China's electric vehicle exports to European countries more than doubled in the month of November, creating a monthly record. More than half of the total electric car shipments are electric passenger vehicles for 2 months making a record US$6 billion in exports.

The number reveals at a time when European electric vehicle companies like BMW, and Volkswagen wants to make parts and cars inside China because of the limited production capacity at their home markets. Other companies that have expanded its distribution networks to sell EVs in Europe through China exports are SAIC motor.

Even Tesla shipped more than 37,000 cars from China in November, after exporting only 60 cars in March, and none in the remaining months due to the lockdown.
